Little Lesson in Aklanon--4

Amon and Namon

Amon (our) refers to a common property, excluding you. It's opposite is aton. That means the property belongs to us, including you.

Amon is usually written at the beginning of a sentence. For a change, use namon, but you have to put it after a noun or a verb.

Amon ron.
That’s ours.

Ro amon nga baeay hay maeapit sa baybay.
Ro baeay namon hay maeapit sa baybay.
Our house is near the shore.

Ro amon nga simbahan hay dumaan.
Ro simbahan namon hay dumaan.
Our church is ancient (old).

Kon Paskwa ro amon nga baeay hay may mga parol.
Kon Paskwa ro baeay namon hay may mga parol.
On Christmas Season, our house has parols.
